Gangs

The term "gangs," in the context of these articles, refers to organized criminal groups operating in Haiti and Guatemala. These groups are currently newsworthy due to a surge in violence and unrest attributed to their activities. In Haiti, the situation has escalated to the point where an international force, including police officers from Chad and involving 18 countries, is being deployed to combat them. In Guatemala, recent prison riots, triggered by restrictions on gang privileges, led to coordinated attacks resulting in the deaths of at least seven police officers. This prompted the Guatemalan government to declare a 30-day state of emergency.
