Groupe de soutien à l'islam et aux musulmans (JNIM) is a jihadist group operating in the Sahel region of Africa. The group is currently newsworthy due to its continued attacks and assassinations in Mali and Burkina Faso. Recent events include the assassination of Amadou Baby, a youth leader in the Tonka commune of the Tombouctou region in Mali, on March 27th. Additionally, JNIM conducted an attack in the Centre-Nord region of Burkina Faso on March 22nd, resulting in at least twenty deaths among Burkinabé soldiers and Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). These actions highlight JNIM's ongoing presence and destabilizing influence in the region, contributing to insecurity and violence.
