HMS Severn

HMS Severn is an offshore patrol vessel of the Royal Navy. It is part of the UK's fleet actively engaged in monitoring the increasing presence of Russian naval activity in and around UK waters. Recently, HMS Severn, alongside other naval assets like HMS Duncan, HMS St Albans, and HMS Tyne, and supported by Merlin helicopters, spent 72 hours intensely tracking four Russian vessels as they transited from the North Sea through to the English Channel. This operation highlights a broader trend, as the Royal Navy reported a 25% increase in time spent monitoring Russian ships in July compared to the previous year.
