Homes NSW

Homes NSW is the New South Wales government agency tasked with managing public housing and addressing homelessness within the state. Recent news highlights concerns regarding its operations and tenant support. One report indicates that Homes NSW offered a homeless man a flight back to New Zealand rather than providing housing assistance. Additionally, the NSW Ombudsman has found that Homes NSW has inadequate policies and procedures for handling tenant complaints, specifically in a case where an elderly woman's public housing was inundated with sewage. These incidents bring attention to the agency's effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate to provide secure and adequate housing and support services to vulnerable individuals and families in NSW.
