Jinan University

Jinan University, located in Guangzhou, China, is a notable institution for academic research and scholarly discourse. Recently, its researchers have been in the news for their contributions to scientific advancements and their involvement in geopolitical discussions. One scientist from Jinan University is actively engaged in developing non-human primate models for brain diseases, a field currently experiencing increased demand for laboratory monkeys due to a boom in new drug research and development. This surge in demand has led to record-high prices for these animals, impacting research timelines. Additionally, Jinan University hosted a symposium where scholars presented claims regarding the historical and geographical affiliation of the Philippines' Batanes province with Taiwan, and subsequently, Chinese sovereignty. These claims have generated significant attention and debate, particularly within the Philippines. The university's involvement in both cutting-edge biomedical research and sensitive geopolitical discussions highlights its multifaceted relevance in contemporary academic and international contexts.
