Lightning

Lightning is a humanoid robot developed by Chinese smartphone maker Honor. It recently gained significant attention by breaking the 100-meter world record previously held by Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt. At the World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, Lightning achieved a time of 9.32 seconds, surpassing Bolt's record of 9.58 seconds. During this run, the robot reached a peak speed of 14.5 meters per second. This achievement highlights advancements in humanoid robot technology, particularly in speed and agility, as demonstrated by Chinese developers. The event showcased the rapid progress in robotics, with another Chinese robot, Tiangong, also clocking a sub-9-second 100-meter time at the same games, further emphasizing the competitive landscape and the potential for robots to outperform human athletic records.
