In late Monday evening, a Marine Rescue NSW vessel responded to a report of a yacht in difficulties near the Ballina breakwall. While attempting to assist, their own vessel rolled while crossing the Ballina Bar in heavy conditions. Tragically, two volunteers died in this incident, with a third person also losing their life.
