#MeTooEcole is a collective of parents advocating for increased safety and accountability within the périscolaire (after-school) programs in Paris. The organization has gained prominence due to a recent surge in reported cases of verbal, physical, and sexual violence against children by after-school program staff. This has led to public outcry and demands for immediate action. Recently, 751 parents from seven schools in the 7th and 15th arrondissements sent a letter to the Mayor of Paris, requesting an independent audit of the programs and the implementation of preventative measures. The Mayor is scheduled to meet with #MeTooEcole and another group, SOS Périscolaire, to discuss the situation. The issue's significance is underscored by recent arrests of after-school staff for alleged sexual assault of multiple children, prompting public demonstrations and calls to end the "omerta" surrounding violence in these programs.
