Metro de Madrid is the underground railway network serving the city of Madrid, Spain. It's currently newsworthy due to a combination of ongoing disruptions and planned expansions. A significant portion of Line 10 is closed between Nuevos Ministerios and Cuzco stations for renovations at Santiago Bernabéu station, causing considerable disruption and requiring alternative bus services. This closure is expected to last until the end of the year. Despite these disruptions, Metro de Madrid is also undertaking expansion projects. A new station is planned for Line 10 between Colonia Jardín and Aviación Española, scheduled to open in 2029. Additionally, the Estadio Metropolitano station will gain a new semicircular access to serve the future Ciudad del Deporte, aiming to improve accessibility and reduce congestion.
