Metrovalencia

Metrovalencia, the public transportation system in Valencia, Spain, is currently in the news due to two separate issues. Firstly, the organization reported collecting 6,604 lost items in 2023, averaging 18 items per day, including IDs, wallets, and unusual objects like baby urinals and TVs. This highlights the volume of passengers and the common occurrence of lost property within the system. Secondly, Metrovalencia is facing criticism from the PSPV political party, who accuse the Consell (regional government) and specifically Vicente Martínez Muz, of a lack of transparency regarding the system's operational safety. The PSPV has requested a list of system failures (boletines de tracción), but claims the request has been met with evasive responses, raising concerns about accountability and the public's right to information regarding the safety and maintenance of the Metrovalencia system.
