MV Matui

The MV Matui was an inter-island ferry operating in Vanuatu. It is currently newsworthy due to a tragic incident where it sank off the coast of Vanuatu on Friday. The vessel was en route from Santo to Ambae island with over 40 passengers and crew when it encountered very rough seas and went down. Tragically, at least one person has died, and more than 30 individuals remain missing. Rescuers initially searched for survivors in open waters, but government operations have since been scaled back.
