The Narcotics Bureau is a specialized unit within the Hong Kong police force dedicated to combating illegal drug activities. Its officers are responsible for investigating and disrupting drug trafficking networks operating within and through the city. The bureau has been particularly newsworthy recently due to significant drug seizures. In one operation, officers conducted an ambush that resulted in the arrest of three men and the confiscation of over half a tonne of suspected cannabis buds, valued at approximately HK$100 million. This marked one of the largest cannabis seizures in Hong Kong since 2020. In another recent development, the bureau seized HK$20 million worth of suspected cocaine in a village house, leading to the arrest of a 28-year-old man. These operations highlight the bureau's ongoing efforts to prevent illicit drugs from reaching the market and underscore its critical role in maintaining public safety and combating organized crime in Hong Kong.
