The Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) is a fictitious federal agency that was allocated approximately 1.3 billion naira (around £700,000) in Nigeria's 2026 national budget. Despite having government offices, civil servants, and a budget line, investigations revealed the organization has no legal basis for its existence. The controversy came to light when the president's chief of staff, Femi Gbajabiamila, reported the alleged misuse of his signature, official seals, and reference letters to the police. The PFIPC's director general, Prince Adeniyi Adeyemi Matthew, has denied any wrongdoing. This situation has caused a significant political storm in Nigeria, particularly in the lead-up to a general election, highlighting serious issues of governance and accountability within the federal structure.
