Puntland forces

Puntland forces are military units operating within Somalia's semi-autonomous Puntland state. They have recently become newsworthy due to direct confrontations with federal government troops. In a significant development, Puntland forces have reportedly seized a government-held camp in Galkayo following intense clashes, leading to the retreat of rival federal-aligned forces. This action represents a notable escalation in the ongoing tensions between regional leaders, specifically Puntland's President Said Abdullahi Deni, and the Somali federal government. The involvement of Puntland forces in such direct military actions highlights the persistent challenges to national unity and stability in Somalia, underscoring the complex political landscape and the potential for further regional conflicts.
