SAG-AFTRA

SAG-AFTRA, officially known as the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists, is the trade union representing actors, broadcasters, journalists, and other media professionals in the United States. The union is a significant force in the entertainment industry, advocating for fair wages, benefits, and working conditions for its members. Recently, SAG-AFTRA has been in the news for overwhelmingly ratifying a new four-year contract with major studios and streamers, a development that followed a period of intense negotiations and a strike. This contract aims to address key issues such as compensation, residuals from streaming content, and the use of artificial intelligence. The union's actions and agreements have a direct impact on the livelihoods of thousands of performers and are crucial for shaping the future of media production and employment. Notably, even former President Donald Trump is a recipient of a Screen Actors Guild pension from SAG-AFTRA, stemming from his past acting roles.
