San Diego Chargers

The San Diego Chargers are a professional American football team with a history in the NFL. Recent news highlights the passing of former linebacker Billy Ray Smith Jr. at the age of 64. Smith, a college football hall of famer, played for the Chargers and was remembered at a public memorial service for Junior Seau at Qualcomm Stadium in 2012. While the articles do not detail current team operations or recent game performance, the mention of Smith's death brings attention to the legacy of former players associated with the franchise. The Chargers organization, though no longer based in San Diego, continues to have a historical connection to the city and its past athletes.
