State Railway of Thailand

The State Railway of Thailand (SRT) is the state-owned rail operator in Thailand. It manages and operates the country's railway network, providing passenger and freight services. Currently, the SRT is newsworthy due to a tragic accident in Nakhon Ratchasima province, northeast of Bangkok. On January 14, 2026, a construction crane collapsed onto a moving passenger train operated by the SRT. The incident resulted in the derailment of the train and the crushing of several carriages, with at least 32 fatalities and 66 injuries reported. Almost 200 people were on board the train at the time of the accident.
