The San Francisco Chronicle is a newspaper serving primarily the San Francisco Bay Area of Northern California. It was founded on January 16, 1865 as The Daily Dramatic Chronicle by teenage brothers Charles de Young and Michael H. de Young. It underwent a name change in 1868 and, for less than a year, was published as The Daily Morning Chronicle. Finally, on August 15, 1869, the newspaper was published under its current name and assumed a daily publication frequency starting with the September 9
