Tooro Kingdom

The Tooro Kingdom is a traditional monarchy located in western Uganda. It is currently in the news due to the recent death of its reigning monarch, King Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, at the age of 34. King Oyo ascended to the throne at the remarkably young age of three in 1995, following the passing of his father. He officially assumed his full royal duties at 18. The cause of his death has not been officially disclosed, though some reports suggest it may be related to illness. The passing of King Oyo marks the end of an era for the Tooro Kingdom, which he led for over three decades. His reign, beginning in childhood, saw him engage with global leaders and represent his kingdom on various platforms, highlighting the continued cultural and traditional significance of the Tooro monarchy within Uganda.
