Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG) is the company behind the social media platform Truth Social, which was founded as an alternative to mainstream platforms. TMTG is currently newsworthy due to its planned launch of a paid service, dubbed the Truth API, set to begin on August 1st. This service will provide Wall Street firms with high-speed access to "market-moving" posts from "highest-ranking" accounts on Truth Social, including those of former President Donald Trump. The company hopes this will generate a new revenue stream. However, the Truth API has also drawn controversy and potential scrutiny from the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) over concerns of insider trading, as the service could grant subscribers access to information not yet available to the general public. The SEC has confirmed receipt of a letter regarding the matter but has declined to comment on a potential investigation.
