Tuareg separatists are an armed group operating in Mali, a West African nation rich in natural resources like gold, lithium, and uranium. The group has been involved in a long-standing struggle for autonomy, exacerbated by Mali's political instability and security crisis since 2012. They have recently gained prominence due to their involvement in coordinated attacks alongside an al-Qaeda-linked group. These attacks, which occurred around April 25, targeted various locations across Mali and led to significant developments, including the killing of Mali's defense minister, Sadio Camara. Following these events, Mali's military leader, Assimi Goita, assumed the defense minister post.
