Vocational Training Council

The Vocational Training Council (VTC) is Hong Kong's largest vocational training institution. The organization is currently newsworthy due to its proactive stance on the impact of Artificial Intelligence (AI) on the job market. The newly appointed VTC chairman, Jeffrey Lam Kin-fung, believes that VTC graduates are largely insulated from the negative effects of AI and may even benefit from increased internship opportunities arising from a major upcoming megaproject, the Northern Metropolis. Lam has also pledged to review and update VTC's course offerings to ensure they remain relevant in the evolving technological landscape, particularly concerning AI and digital transformation. This strategic alignment is crucial for equipping students with the skills needed for future employment and for contributing to Hong Kong's economic development, especially in light of initiatives like the Hung Shui Kiu Industry Park.
