Wine Trader

The Wine Trader is a tanker vessel that recently became newsworthy due to a drone attack in the Black Sea. On Thursday morning, the San Marino-flagged tanker was located 13 nautical miles east of the mouth of the River Danube in Romanian territorial waters when it was struck by drones, resulting in a fire and significant crew casualties. Naval authorities reported that eight out of twelve crew members were missing following the incident. A NATO military source indicated that the drones originated from Russia. This event highlights the ongoing security concerns in the vital shipping route of the Black Sea, particularly its use by Ukraine, and underscores the risks faced by maritime traffic in the region.
