Aidarus al-Zubaidi

Aidarus al-Zubaidi is the leader of the Southern Transitional Council (STC), a separatist movement in southern Yemen. The STC seeks autonomy or independence for the southern regions of Yemen. Al-Zubaidi is newsworthy due to recent military gains by STC forces and ongoing conflict with the internationally recognized Yemeni government. The STC now controls more land in southern Yemen, marking a significant shift in the country's political and military landscape. However, despite these gains, the STC has not declared independence. Recently, the Saudi-led coalition has been bombing forces loyal to al-Zubaidi after he reportedly failed to attend peace talks in Riyadh.
