Anna Kwok

Anna Kwok is a Hong Kong pro-democracy activist currently living in exile. She is known for her advocacy and activism, particularly regarding human rights and political freedoms in Hong Kong. Kwok testified before Congress in Washington D.C. in 2023. She is newsworthy due to the recent conviction of her father, Kwok Yin-sang, under Hong Kong's national security law (Article 23). He was found guilty of attempting to endanger national security by trying to end her insurance policy and withdraw the funds. This is the first conviction under the homegrown national security law and has drawn international criticism as it is seen as a tactic to silence exiled activists by targeting their families. The case highlights the Hong Kong government's increasing pressure on pro-democracy figures and the extension of its reach to family members of those living abroad.
