Annie Ernaux

Annie Ernaux is a writer who has recently been involved in supporting Palestinian causes. She is one of over a hundred artists who signed an open letter in support of Francesca Albanese, the UN special rapporteur for occupied Palestinian territory, who is facing calls for her resignation due to critical comments she made regarding the war in Gaza. Ernaux also joined more than 200 cultural figures in signing an open letter calling for the release of Marwan Barghouti, a jailed Palestinian leader. Barghouti is viewed by some as a figure capable of uniting Palestinian factions and advancing the establishment of a Palestinian state.
