Carlos Martens Bilongo

Carlos Martens Bilongo is a Black politician in France, affiliated with the La France Insoumise (LFI) party. He, along with four other Black LFI elected officials (Danièle Obono, Aly Diouara, Nadège Abomangoli, and Bally Bagayoko), recently filed a complaint in Paris after receiving racist correspondence. The letter contained imagery and text appropriating and distorting "Tintin au Congo" with racist phrases. Additionally, Bilongo was named in racist graffiti discovered in Bagnères-de-Bigorre, Hautes-Pyrénées, alongside Bagayoko, Obono, and Rima Hassan. The graffiti called for their "remigration." These events highlight the ongoing issue of racism targeting politicians of color in France and the challenges faced by minority representatives in the political sphere. The incidents are significant as they prompted legal action and public condemnation, raising awareness about racial discrimination in the country.
