Collin Koh

Collin Koh, a Singapore-based defense analyst, has recently provided commentary on key geopolitical developments in Southeast Asia. His insights are particularly relevant in the context of increasing military activities and strategic realignments in the region. In relation to a new Chinese military facility in Laos, which marks Beijing's first air force foothold in mainland Southeast Asia, Koh's analysis helps contextualize the strategic implications of such a development. Furthermore, his expertise is sought after regarding the participation of Southeast Asian nations in major military exercises, such as the US-Philippine Balikatan drills. Koh's commentary sheds light on the regional hesitancy of some ASEAN members to join these exercises, explaining the delicate balance these nations maintain between reassuring US commitment and avoiding overt alignment in a complex geopolitical landscape. His current relevance lies in his ability to interpret these events, offering a neutral and factual perspective on the evolving security dynamics in the Indo-Pacific.
