Diogenes Quintero

Diogenes Quintero was a Colombian lawmaker. He is newsworthy due to his death in a plane crash in northeast Colombia on January 28, 2026. The Beechcraft 1900 twin-engined turboprop plane, operated by state-run airline Satena, was en route from Cucuta, near the Venezuelan border, to Ocana. Air traffic control lost contact with the plane just 12 minutes after takeoff. The crash resulted in the deaths of all 15 people on board, including Quintero and two crew members. Search and rescue efforts were hampered by the remote jungle terrain and adverse weather conditions. Quintero's death represents a loss to the Colombian political landscape and highlights the challenges of air travel in remote regions of the country.
