Elijah McClain

Elijah McClain was a 23-year-old Black man who died in 2019 after being put in a chokehold by police and injected with ketamine by paramedics in Aurora, Colorado. He had been stopped by police while walking home. McClain's death became a focal point of protests against police brutality and racial injustice. Recently, on December 22, 2023, the homicide convictions against two Colorado paramedics, Jeremy Cooper and Peter Cichuniec, who administered the ketamine overdose, were reversed. This reversal stems from a judge's ruling that the jury instructions in their original trial were flawed.
