The museum houses the Treasure of Villena, a collection of Bronze Age artifacts described as one of Europe's most important prehistoric troves. In a swift heist lasting only minutes, thieves managed to steal a substantial portion of the treasure, specifically all the gold items. Cerdán confirmed the extent of the loss, stating that a large part of the treasure was taken. The stolen artifacts, dating back to approximately 1,000 BC, include numerous gold objects such as bracelets and bowls, as well as some pieces made of silver, iron, and amber.
