Hau Yan-ki

Hau Yan-ki, a 23-year-old unemployed woman from Hong Kong, has been sentenced to 10 years in prison. The conviction stems from her involvement as a teenager in a gang's extortion scheme. Hau was found guilty of luring at least three, and potentially four, victims to deserted locations between November 19 and 22, 2020. Once at these locations, her accomplices would attack the victims, rob them, and take nude photos. These photos were then used for blackmail and extortion. The High Court jury rejected Hau's defense that she mistakenly believed she was merely helping her friends collect debts.
