Hisham el-Leithy

Hisham el-Leithy is an archaeologist associated with significant recent discoveries in Egypt. His work has been highlighted in news reports detailing the unearthing of a well-preserved Byzantine-era city in the western desert, specifically within the Dakhla oasis. This ancient settlement features residential and religious structures, including a basilica-style church, dating back to the fourth century. Alongside the city, archaeologists, including those el-Leithy is connected with, have found artifacts such as coins, pottery fragments, and tools, providing valuable insights into the period. Furthermore, separate discoveries at Marina el-Alamein, near Alexandria, have revealed 18 ancient tombs, some of which are rock-cut.
