Kalidou Koulibaly

Kalidou Koulibaly is the captain of the Senegalese national football team. He is newsworthy due to Senegal's recent participation in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON). Senegal initially won the tournament in a controversial final against Morocco in January 2026, but were later stripped of the title. Despite this, they paraded the trophy at the Stade de France. Koulibaly led his team through the tournament, including a 1-0 semifinal victory against Egypt where Sadio Mane scored the winning goal. Prior to that, Senegal defeated Mali 1-0 in the quarterfinal.
