Karim Bouamrane

Karim Bouamrane is the Socialist mayor of Saint-Ouen-sur-Seine, a city of over 50,000 inhabitants. He gained prominence in 2020 as one of the first mayors of Maghrebi origin to lead a city of that size. He is currently newsworthy following the 2026 municipal elections, in which he was re-elected as mayor of Saint-Ouen. However, he is also making headlines for publicly calling for the resignation of Olivier Faure, the First Secretary of the Socialist Party. Bouamrane's demand stems from his dissatisfaction with the Socialist Party's strategy during the municipal elections, particularly the alliances formed with La France Insoumise (LFI). He believes these alliances, while intended to strengthen the left, ultimately cost the Socialists victories and represent a "total failure" of Faure's leadership.
