Kwok Yin-sang

Kwok Yin-sang, a 69-year-old (or 68-year-old according to one article) Hong Kong resident, is the father of Anna Kwok Fung-yee, a Hong Kong pro-democracy activist currently residing in the United States. He has recently been convicted under Hong Kong's domestic national security law, also known as Article 23, for attempting to cash out an insurance policy worth over HK$88,000 (approximately US$11,251) belonging to his daughter. Authorities had classified Anna Kwok as a wanted activist. Kwok Yin-sang was sentenced to eight months in jail, becoming the first person to be jailed for attempting to deal with the financial assets of someone deemed a national security threat. This case has drawn international criticism, with accusations of collective punishment against relatives of pro-democracy campaigners and claims that authorities are targeting Anna Kwok's family to silence her activism.
