King Li King-chuen

Professor King Li King-chuen, a Hong Kong-born biomedical imaging expert, has been appointed as the founding dean of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology's (HKUST) third medical school. He previously served as the dean emeritus of the Carle Illinois College of Medicine in the US. His current newsworthiness stems from his leadership in establishing HKUST's new medical program. Under his guidance, the school has already recruited approximately 300 teachers. A significant development is the plan to increase the annual student intake from the current 50 to over 200. Professor Li also revealed that a teaching hospital has been identified to facilitate internships and clinical training for students. He intends to leverage his extensive experience to foster collaborations within Hong Kong and the Greater Bay Area, aiming to cultivate a new generation of medical professionals. His role is crucial in developing a new medical education institution for Hong Kong.
