Maria Eugènia Gay

Maria Eugènia Gay, born in Barcelona in 1975, is a prominent figure in Barcelona's municipal government. She currently serves as the city councilor responsible for international relations and also leads District 11, which focuses on Barcelona's ties with Palestinian cities affected by the Israeli army. Additionally, she is the councilor for the Sarrià-Sant Gervasi district, where she actively manages local affairs. Recently, she has been involved in initiatives to increase public housing in Sarrià-Sant Gervasi, aiming to add 200 public homes within three years. Her role is significant as Barcelona strengthens its international presence, exemplified by the opening of the city's first office before the European Union in Brussels, a move spearheaded by Mayor Jaume Collboni to give Barcelona a direct voice in EU affairs.
