Mehdi Kessaci

Mehdi Kessaci was the brother of Amine Kessaci, a prominent anti-drug trafficking activist and newly elected city council member in Marseille. Mehdi was murdered on November 13, 2025, in a shooting in central Marseille. The killing is believed to be linked to Amine's activism against drug trafficking. The case has gained significant attention due to Amine's public stance and the perceived warning nature of the crime. In late March 2026, four months after the murder, French authorities arrested ten individuals in connection with the case. Following their detention, six of those individuals were formally charged and imprisoned, suspected of participating in the murder under the orders of others. The investigation is ongoing, led by the Parquet national anticriminalité organisée.
