He was traveling with another man along the park's remote West Side Road when their vehicle became stuck in mud near Queen of Sheba Mine Road. In extreme heat, reported to be 46.6C (116F), the pair attempted to walk across the salt flats to seek help. Formosa was found by police following a search, having succumbed to the harsh conditions while trying to find assistance.
