Mitchell Quiring

Mitchell Quiring is a climber who was recently the subject of a significant rescue operation in California's Sierra Nevada mountain range. On August 22, 2026, Quiring became stranded on a narrow ledge over 10,000 feet high after getting off route while scaling the Mendenhall couloir on Laurel Mountain. The rescue effort, involving volunteers from the Mono County Sheriff Search and Rescue, was extensive, lasting more than 15 hours. Quiring was eventually carried to safety from the precarious position.
