Moo Deng

Moo Deng is an endangered baby pygmy hippo who gained internet fame in 2024. The young hippo is a star attraction at Khao Kheow Open Zoo in Thailand. Recently, Moo Deng has been in the news due to two separate security incidents. In one instance, a man was fined $300 by a Thai court for breaking into Moo Deng's enclosure. Zoo director Narongwit Chodchoy confirmed the man's conviction for entering the pen last month. In a separate event, two men were arrested for a stunt at the enclosure of a famed monkey, Punch, which led the zoo to consider stricter filming regulations and temporarily halt filming requests from YouTubers. While the monkey incident did not involve Moo Deng directly, it highlights ongoing concerns about visitor behavior and security around the zoo's popular animals. Moo Deng's popularity continues to draw significant attention, making any incident involving the hippo or its habitat a matter of public interest.
