Nurul Amin Shah Alam

Nurul Amin Shah Alam was a 56-year-old nearly blind Rohingya refugee from Rakhine state in Myanmar. He is newsworthy due to the circumstances surrounding his death in Buffalo, New York. Recent reports indicate that Shah Alam was found dead after being released from a county jail and subsequently taken into custody by United States Border Patrol. Following his release by Border Patrol on February 19th, he was reportedly left miles away from his home. He was then reported missing. His body was discovered on a downtown street on Tuesday evening. The incident has raised concerns about the treatment of vulnerable individuals by law enforcement and border agencies, highlighting the potential for neglect and abandonment of individuals with disabilities and limited resources.
