Peter Flude

Peter Flude is a consultant obstetrician who served as a clinical advisor for the independent review into maternity services at Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust (NUH). This review, led by Donna Ockenden, examined over 2,500 cases between 2012 and 2015 where mothers and babies suffered avoidable harm, including deaths and stillbirths. The inquiry, described as the NHS's biggest ever maternity scandal, found that inadequate care led to the deaths or serious harm of 444 women and 76 babies over 13 years. Flude's role as a clinical advisor meant he provided expert medical input and guidance throughout the extensive investigation, contributing to the identification of systemic failures and substandard treatment within the trust's maternity units.
