Philippe Janicot

Philippe Janicot is the mayor of Boisseuil, a commune in the Haute-Vienne department of France. He is currently facing charges of rape, with four women accusing him of the crime. Despite these serious allegations and a period of incarceration, Janicot was re-elected as mayor in the recent municipal elections. He was subsequently released under judicial supervision on December 30th. He is currently prohibited from residing in Haute-Vienne, except to attend municipal council meetings in Boisseuil and community meetings in Limoges, where he also holds the position of vice-president of the metropolitan area. His re-election, despite the ongoing legal proceedings, has created significant division and unease within the Boisseuil community, and his presence at the first council meeting of his new term has been met with opposition.
