Ho Siu-tung, a 40-year-old chief inspector with the Hong Kong police, has been sentenced to 2.5 years in jail. He was found guilty of accepting over HK$1.1 million (approximately US$140,400) in cash and gifts from a businessman. In exchange for these benefits, Ho admitted to terminating a criminal investigation against the businessman and divulging confidential details about two other cases. The case was heard in Tsuen Wan Court, which is currently handling District Court cases. Ho pleaded guilty to two counts of accepting advantages. This conviction highlights a significant corruption case within the Hong Kong police force, emphasizing the consequences of abusing official power for personal gain and compromising ongoing investigations.
