Rory Amon

Rory Amon is a former state Liberal MP in New South Wales, Australia. He is currently newsworthy due to his trial in the NSW Supreme Court on charges related to the alleged sexual abuse of a 13-year-old boy in 2017. Amon pleaded not guilty to ten charges, claiming he believed the boy was 17 years old at the time of their encounter, which occurred after they connected on Grindr and Snapchat. The alleged victim, now 22, testified that he did not understand the meeting was for a sexual encounter and experienced mental distress afterward. After three days of deliberation, the jury found Amon not guilty on four counts of child rape, two counts of attempted child rape, and two counts of indecent assault.
