Tania Warner

Tania Warner is a Canadian citizen originally from British Columbia who moved to the United States in 2021 after marrying Edward Warner. She and her seven-year-old daughter, Ayla Luca, who has autism, were detained by US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) in Texas. The reason for their detention remains unclear, with family members claiming it was unlawful and that they are uncertain about any issues with their immigration paperwork. They were held for nearly three weeks, during which time they were transferred to a notorious detention center and, according to Warner's husband, asked to "self-deport." The case has gained attention due to the length of their detainment, the daughter's autism, and Warner's warnings to other immigrants to "lie low," especially during Donald Trump's presidency. Warner and her daughter were eventually released after posting a $9,500 bond. Her husband reports that both she and her daughter were traumatized by the experience.
