Tom Clough

PC Tom Clough, 38, was a police officer who tragically died on Teesside. He was killed when the marked armed response vehicle he was traveling in was struck head-on by a Volkswagen Passat. The car was reportedly traveling the wrong way along the A66. The incident occurred in the early hours of a Saturday morning. PC Clough and his colleague, PC Matthew Blades (37), were among seven fatalities in the crash. The other five deceased were young men traveling in the Passat. Tributes have been paid to the officers, with their deaths being described as a result of a brave act. The accident has drawn attention to similar incidents in Ireland where police had highlighted a social media trend of driving in the opposite direction. The collision resulted in all occupants of both vehicles being pronounced dead at the scene.
