Zhang Kai

Zhang Kai is a highly regarded cryo-electron microscopy (cryo-EM) scientist who previously worked in Cambridge, England, and at Yale University in the United States. He is currently newsworthy due to his decision to leave Yale and return to China to further his research. Zhang is building an ultra-large-scale cellular structure group data bank. He stated that he believes it would be "almost impossible for a Chinese scholar to take the lead on this project" in the United States, citing a perceived racial ceiling.
